Duplicate emails on checkout success

I've set up an email to be sent to the client when the checkout_success page is loaded. It's working fine, except she's getting two emails instead of one. I've checked and double-checked the Universal Email code and I don't see why that would be.

Are there any settings that could cause duplicate emails to be sent? I've attached my checkout_success.php page for your review.

is this on a windows server? are multiple copies of the email being sent?

On the To settings panel, try increasing the time between sending emails, sometimes duplicates will be sent through an Exchange server if multiple emails are being sent at the same time.

I'm pretty sure it's not a Windows server and there are not multiple copies of the email being sent. Regardless, increasing the time between emails seems to have done the trick!

I spoke too soon. I tried increasing the timing to 60 seconds between emails and that seemed to stop the duplicates, but caused a timeout on Authorize.net. Is there anything else I can do besides trying a bunch of different values?

try using a lower limit like 10 seconds between emails.

I've tried 10, 15, 20, and 30 sec. and I'm still getting duplicates - plus the wait for the success page to appear is becoming interminable. Is there no other way to stop the duplicate emails?

Never mind. I fixed it by separating the email section from the checkout_success page. Fingers crossed!
