updateable profile tutorial?

Hey Jason

Just wondering if there was/is a tutorial for creating a site which displays member profiles which are updateable by the relevant members themselves with their own logins?

Thanks

Jamie

there isn't a tutorial for creating this, but the wizard will create that page for you.

basically the concept is simple:

when the user logs in, their ID is stored in a session variable.

on the user update page, you create a recordset that filters the user table based on the Session created by the login and use that for populating the update for.

in the update behavior the ID session is also used for the Primary Key value.

If I may add, this operates on one of the more basic functions of dynamic sites, referred to as Master-Detail pages or page sets. You could try a search for something like that which may help.

Data Assist - whether you're using the wizard or the individual tools - really helps for this type of functionality and offers a lot more options tha some of the corresponding Dreamweaver server behaviors.

thanks to you both Jason and Lon - I will have to have a 'play' and see what I can achieve...

All the best
