PowerGallery

PowerGallery

+1 for different user accounts.

I realize most of this is a no brainer and you must have thought of this but my 2 cents -

Make it like the way PowerCMS works.

Changes that would sell me -

I would like to use this but giving the "non super admin" the ability to change the design would break the page layout that I "embed" the gallery into.

I would also remove the serial number area and Admin password change as well as the add new gallery.

Pretty much remove the settings page outside of the watermark area.

So those things or rather lack of those things make it a deal breaker for me. The single domain license I can deal with...I guess. But the ability for the user to break a layout makes this not work at all for our needs.

And that is my wish for the week. :) See you next week....

Don't you know my parents hated me at Christmas (always wishing for better) hehe. :)

Hey Rob

I agree, it would be nice to have that feature.

I do work around it myself by hiding the tabs that I dont want the clients to see...its a bit of a pain in the proverbial, but it works just fine. I normally just let them have 'Choose Gallery', 'Add Images' and 'Manage Images' as the tabs.. I also add up at the top a link back to their PCMS installation so that they can jump back and forth easily from one to the other...

All the best

Hi Jamie,

Those are good points! So do you just comment those tabs out and then remove comment when you work on them?

Humm, gives me some ideas. I did read that Ray outlined how to use security assist (if it was easy though they should have done that...just saying) and also there was a thread about tying it into PCMS.

I prefer your quick and dirty method, since I have to resell it and still make money without spending days figuring out the Security Assist & tying it into PCMS, then trouble shooting it all.

Thanks for the ideas!

hey Rob

i just change the <li> tags in menu.php in the CSSMenuWriter>cssmenu folder to this

html:
<li><a href="../../admin_gallery/choosegallery.php">Choose Gallery</a></li>
<li><a href="../../admin_gallery/addimages.php">Add Images</a></li>
<li><a href="../../admin_gallery/manageimages.php">Manage Images</a></li>
<li style="visibility:hidden;"><a href="../../admin_gallery/choosedesign.php">Choose Design</a></li>
<li style="visibility:hidden;"><a href="../../admin_gallery/addtosite.php">Add to Site</a></li>
<li style="visibility:hidden;"><a href="../../admin_gallery/settings.php">Settings</a></li>

I suppose you could comment out for much the same effect...and that might in fact be a little more efficient.

If I need to work on any of the hidden tabs, I just remember their file name (ie addtosite.php) and manually type it in...there's only 3 to remember and pretty quick to type in.

I have created my own templated set ups for both PCMS and PowerGallery so that when I do an install, all I do is copy and paste the relevant files/folders over so it takes no time at all to make these changes...

Happy to help and hope it works for you

All the best

Jamie

Ahh Ha,

Interesting. Ok to bug you with one last question. Do you tie in the clients logins on the Gallery and PCMS so they do not login twice?

I guess in a perfect world there would be an option to buy a "Super Client Suite" that had the Gallery, PCMS, and Messenger all tied together to keep it simple for the client.

But in a perfect world I should be working not just dreaming up more work for the Webassist guys. :)

Cheers Jamie

Cheers mate and anything I can do to help just let me know!

I built a dashboard so users could log in once and have access to power cms, gallery, powermessenger, and the calendar app I built. One login and they can pop back and forth with no hassle.

clients seem to really like the ease of use now. maybe I could make a quick video tutorial on how to do it as it would be easier to just show than type it all here.

actually maybe I better wait for a reply from webassist on this as I will have to show a little bit of their code in order to set this up.
I don't want them to think I am giving away their code for free.
It's only a few lines that check the WA_Auth_RulePasses
and editing a little of the login script
