Update old powercms site

Update old powercms site

I have an old site using power cms that no longer functions correctly in the latest browsers (adding image / table boxes aren't visible for example). I had stopped using powercms because of the individual licenses but note that you have now changed this so I have upgraded to design extender and would like to update the old cms. Hopefully, this will solve the issues I have. Is there a correct procedure for this? I don't have to uninstall the old extensions as I have recently moved to a new pc but in dreamweaver I am seeing "Content area not found" on my pages, presumably because the page can't see a database connection. I've looked at your tutorials and user guide but can't see anything in respect of upgrading old sites.
Any guidance appreciated.

The Power CMS Builder of Design Extender uses the Power CMS 2 files.

Upgrading the CMS Version of an older site will be a manual process.

The power CMS Files are located in your users configuration folder. for help finding the configuration folder, see the following page:
common_installation_issues.php

in the configuration folder, go to:
Configuration/Shared/WebAssist/PowerCMS/CMS

copy all of the folders in the CMS folder to your Sites CMS folder. you should delete the admin folder in your site to prevent confusion, the newer CMS uses the admin_cms folder.

If you installed CMS to a subfolder of your site initially, you wont be able to use Dreamweaver for managing the CMS Contents areas, you will need to continue using the developer notes and adding those to new pages as you had in the previous version.

Hi Jason - the site is CMS2 ( one of several licenses I bought before Web Assists turnaround) and already uses admin_cms. I have tried downloading the PowerCMSConnection.php file and checking it - I've also tried using the reload content button in .Dreamweaver CS6 - nothing happens at all. I've also tried adding new content. That brings up the create content area box and allows me to redefine the connection but when I do I get the sql 2002 error saying that the host is not known. I've checked the db host details and all is correct. The site host is 1and 1 and I know they don't allow remote connections but that has not prevented me using WA CMS2 in the past. I should also mention that if I try a different page I get the need to reactivate Design Extender box which then tells me there have been too many activations (it has been activated just once!) which then means I have had to reset the activations which means doing this for all extensions. I'd be grateful for any help as I have several of these sites with licenses for CMS2 and need to be able to get them working somehow
