Add "Special Instructions" textarea to checkout

Add "Special Instructions" textarea to checkout

My client wants to add a text area to allow the customer pass a message (aka "Special Instructions) to be stored in the database. The site is using Authorize.net SIM - remote checkout.

How would I set that up?

Thanks - Joe

How are you storing order info to the database?

using the eCart store order summary and details on the confirm page?

Or using a return script?

To answer your question, I'm using a variation on the order summary and details page on the Confirm page. However, I have mostly figured it out. I created a session variable by following the same pattern as your code for storing info entered into form fields - and also storing in the database. That all works. However, I tried to show it on the checkout_success page and it's not showing up. Shouldn't that work?

yes, it should work, are other session showing on the confirm page?

you may need to add the following code at line 1 to force php to find the session:

php:
<?php @session_start() ?>

if you continue to have a problem, send a copy of the checkout success and confirm pages so i can examine the code.
