Go to WebAssist -> Preferences in the Memento section Set the Show in dreamweaver option to Never.

In the RSS Section, check the option to disable all RSS Feeds and Check For Updates only when Memento opens.

Then go to Window -> Work Space layout -> Reset '<your layout name>'

I also get this message on DW start up:

unable to open script c:\program files\adobe\adobe dreamweaver cs4\configuration\shared\webassist\library\WA_Configuration.js

and this other message pops up a few times when DW starts:

unable to open script file c:\program files\adobe\adobe dreamweaver cs4\configuration\shared\webassist\DocumentEncoding.js

It sounds like you may have conflicting extensions installed.

Please provide a listing of extensions that are installed including version numbers.

Jason, thanks a lot for your time.
Luckily I had a backup copy of the configuration folder (don't know why because I never did it) and this fixed everything.
Cheers
