Css menu

There no encoding choice for css menu - only UTF8! But for page properly look in Unicode with Cyrillic I have to include Unicode signature (BOM ). Otherwise CSS menu with Cyrillic items show rubbish. But page with Unicode signature give mistake with Data Assistant ( I use PHP ). It is possible in ready made menu manually substitute items in Unicode for items readable in CP 1251 (in Note Pad or any Editor ). Any better solution?

The problem using the Unicode Signature (BOM) is a PHP bug:
bug.php?id=22108

It usually only happens on Linux servers.

You can change the pages character set by modifying the following meta tags charset property:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

try changing that to:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=KOI8 Unified" />

or:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=KOI8-ru" />

CSS Menu

The problem is
page encoding - I can change it and know how to do it

but CSS menu encoding only UTF 8 !
if CSS Menu has Cyrillic items they correctly appear only if page in UTF8 encoding.
How change encoding for CSS Menu? To KOI 8 or to CP1251
The CSS Menu needs to have option for encoding, IMHO.

The menu gets it's encoding from the page. The menu does not need to be encoded if the page is encoded properly.

Perhaps it would help us understand what is going wrong if you provided a URL to demonstrate the issue.
