Not Happy with WA, again!

Ok, so I bought Social Media toolkit, and now you say, sorry, no more updates for it...

unless of course I buy the $400 design kit....

Forget that...I'm so done with WA it's not even funny....

You people have terrible business practice.

We will continue to offer updates for Social Media Toolkit to address any bugs that are discovered, but we will not be offering additional upgrades to offer new functionality.

Hey ShorePatrol

I hear what you're saying, but I do think it's a little unfair. The whole suite of products aren't that expensive, relative to the amount of earnings tha can be made of them.

I was like you and had all the single extensions but upgraded at the discounted price to super suite about 9 months ago... I did this not because the single extensions werent working with my version of Dreamweaver but because I feel it a small price to pay for the level and quality of support in general and for product that encompasses all that is needed to be able to have a thriving web business...

Ultimately WA are going to carry on evolving their products, some are going to fall by the wayside, some are going to be upgraded and some get soaked up into bigger option 'packs'. am sure that any of the single extensions you have will carry on working regardless of whether or not they are still be offered out as single extensions

Just my 2 cents worth and a different viewpoint

all the best

WA Products

Jamie

It's not that I'm not happy with the products, for the most part, I am (minus 1 glaring issue with another product).

But many of us don't need a "suite" of products - most of which we wouldn't use - it's nice to be able to buy a small "component" for what you need. And when I do, I don't expect the developers to drop development of it after the fact - it doesn't matter how big or small the product is, that's a poor business model by any standard. Period.

Just so you know, this isn't the first issue I've had with WA and them "switching things up" with no regard to current, loyal customers.

And that's why I say I'm done with them. The smaller components like social media kit can be purchased elsewhere, I just always thought WA presented itself as a larger, professional, more reliable company - but clearly this isn't the case (in my view).

-my 2 cents.

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way.

The decision to change to a bundled model for the extensions was one we struggled with for a long time. Ultimately we decided that by pairing down the number of extensions that we offer, we could offer more value by being able to better manage them in terms of releasing updates to fix issues as they arise and to add new functionality.

with the old model of having around 30 smaller extensions, it was rather difficult to get to each one on any sort of regular schedule to release updates. It also made for a rather long QA cycle having to test all of the possible DW / OS configurations and compatibility between the other extensions.

By pairing the catalog down to 4 products from 30, the testing for compatibility is much simpler, and we can concentrate more on releasing updates faster.

We feel that this allows to offer better software with fewer issues, and to address any issues that do arise much quicker.
