Insert As New?

Hi,

I am trying to create insert and update forms and I would like to have an "insert as new" button (similar to what MX Kollection/ADDT nextensio forms do). So if a person pulls up a record to update, they can click the button and enter it as a entirely new entry. Is this possible? Also, is it possible to have the same insert and update, again, much like nextensio did? Im trying to make the transition from ADDT to DA and I use this type of form often.

On your update page, add 2 submit buttons, and make sure they have unique names like Update or Insert.

Set the Update record behavior trigger to use Button Update pressed, add an insert record behavior to the page and set it to trigger if the Insert Button is pressed.

In both behaviors, bind the Database column to the appropriate for elements.

Thanks Jason.

One question. When I add an update sb to the insert page and bind everything up and try to call up a record to update, it doesnt pull the info. So I have a list page that points to the insert/update page passing the id, but its not working. Can you help?

your link to the update page should pass the ID of the record to be updated using a query string variable

you would create a recordset that uses the ID as a filter to return the correct record, then bind the initial value of the form elements to the corresponding column.

if you use the Data Assist wizard to create the search, results, update and details pages for you, this will already be in please, you can then add the insert button and insert behavior to the update page.
