Getting a error message for a menu to show correctly

Hi,
I have created an information gathering form.
I'm having trouble with the error messages for the drop down menus.
Either they don't show up at all when the form is submitted or they're there all the time.
How do I fix this?

Here are 2 links

Hi Jason,
Below are 2 links to 2 versions of the same form.
Check out the State menus and the other drop down menus.

The second is configured the correct way:
guest-dockage2A.php

your select lists need to have a blank option in them

<option value="">Make a Selection</option>

you don't include a copy of this page though so that I can see the code to tell why the errors are showing on page load. please send a copy of the guest-dockage2A.php page.

Still not working

Hi Jason,

I did what you said to-I think and the messages are still not showing up with the drop down (are the suppose to?)-I've only worked on the State menu so far.

Another annoying thing is now the Arrival and Departure dates don't work even when you put in a correct date.
And the Length, Beam and Draft text boxes which need to be #s don't seem to accept anything. I think I've fussed on it too long-I'm not sure what is incorrect.

Have a look and let me know.

Thanks
