Trouble selecting text to edit.

Trouble selecting text to edit.

Hi,

In my CMS when editing text I am experiencing weird text highlighting behaviour. Selecting text either by mouse or shift+select is erratic, jumping from word to word, highlighting left when I move to the right and sometimes not highlighting at all. My client is also experiencing the same thing so it's not just my machine. Any idea what could be the cause of this? It's very disconcerting trying to edit with this occurring.

Thanks,
Ian

I've experiences weird issues too when trying to select text in the editor... using a few different browsers as well. After updating to the current version of CKeditor, most issues have disappeared for me. It may be worth a shot.

See this thread for a link to the CKeditor update documentation:

Hi Mikey,

I had previous issues and upgraded to v3.6.3 Mid June as per Jason's suggestion. Those issues went away but the wonky text highlighting behaviour remains.

Any ideas Jason?

What Browser are you using?

I find that there are some issues with IE9 and CKEditor, v3.6.3 was the first update CKEditor did for IE9 compatibility, but there are still issues with it.

I have tried reproducing this in Fire Fox and Safari and have not been able to.

If using IE9, maybe try setting IE 9 to work in compatibility mode.

use F12 to open the developer tool panel where you set IE 9 to work in IE 8 mode.

Hi Jason,

I have tried in IE 8, Chrome 20.0.1132.57 and FF 3.6.21 and all behave the same.

Hi Jason,
I have discovered that with pages containing lots of text, if I enter the edit mode and wait for a bit over a minute, the highlighting then works.
