UE Security and Localhost

UE Security and Localhost

I have a client who wishes to send emails to contacts from his own machine. He does not wish to use a website on a remote server, most likely xampp and localhost.

I am wondering if this is possible or wise and if there are security implications.
Form validations and Captcha will be used.

Many thanks

it's posible to do this, but you will need top perform extra configuration of the local server in order to get it to work.

XAMPP Includes the Mercury email server which in theory should allow you to send emails from the local system. I have not had luck in setting up Mercury though.

Another method is to install the PEASR Mail package and use the PEAR Mail For SMTP email object in Universal Email to pass the email through the gmail servers, you need to have a gmail account for the this to work.

In the end, it boils down to setting up the local system to handle sending the emails, we do not offer support for your servers configuration however.
