Creating a Product Catalog in Data Assist

I should start by saying I'm not a PHP or database genius...

I am trying to create a clean shopping cart where I have a navigation menu for my product categories, and when each category is selected, a list of products for that category are shown.

After going through the DA Wizard, I have a customer facing search results page that looks how I want it, I just don't want the customers to have to search the page.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

you will nee to use CSS Menu writer for this to create the dynamic menu.

before you start, you should go through the "Creating Dynamic Menus with CSS Menu Writer 2.0" tutorial on the menu writer support page to get familiar with generating a dynamic menu:
css-menu-writer/

also get familiar with the search and results page.

the search page should pass the category as a URL Parameter, there should be a couple others as well, your dynamic menu will ned to pass those same URL parameters.

Jason,

I have purchased the super suite, and have created my dynamic menu.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm assuming I need to use DA to create a search and results page, and then use parameters from each to link the product category search results, with the appropriate product category nav item?

I'm not sure how to "pass the URL parameter"

yes, create the search and results pages using the data assist wizard.

you will notice that when you search for a category using the search page, it will pas a collection of URL Parameters. these URL parameters tell the results page what category to return.

those parameters will need to be included in your menu.

I'm using CS6 on PC...

When I create the search and results page, then upload to the server, I get this error

Warning: require_once(../webassist/form_validations/wavt_validatedform_php.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/rssfund/public_html/catalog/products_search.php on line 1

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../webassist/form_validations/wavt_validatedform_php.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/rssfund/public_html/catalog/products_search.php on line 1

I cannot find where DA has created the "form_validations" directory? Am I doing something wrong?

it should be in the webassist directory at the root of your site.

at the root of your dreamweaver site, select the webassist directory and upload it to the server.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. That directory was not created by DA. In the webassist directory in the root of my Dreamweaver site, the directories included are:

captcha
database_management
forms
framework
progress_bar

I have created my search and results pages. I would like to add the "add to cart" button to the results page, but when I try to place the ecart - add to cart button in the repeating table, it tells me that the button has a form tag that cannot be inserted inside of another form tag.

You will need to delete the existing form from the results page. if you are not sure how to accomplish this, send me a copy of the page and I will tell you what code to remove.
