Universal Email delivery to iCloud / Mobile Me addresses

Hi

I have been looking into an issue with iCloud and Mobile Me addresses that over the last month seem to have stopped receiving emails generated by Universal Email.

I have managed to find a solution by amending the following line:

$MailFrom = "FromNameHere|WA|from@email.com";

to

$MailFrom = "from@email.com";

Is this something anyone else is experiencing?

Cheers
Ian

it is only a problem with Mobile Me and iCloud addresses? other addresses work if you include the from display name?

that is strange, the from display name is normally only a problem that the SMTP Server may experience, for example.

the code you reference:
$MailFrom = "FromNameHere|WA|from@email.com";

adds the from header as:
From: FromNameHere <from@email.com>

Some servers don't like that format though, mostly it's an exchange issue but other server will have a problem too.

Hi Jason,

Yes. It does appear to be isolated to iCloud / Mobile Me at the moment.

If I leave $MailFrom = "FromNameHere|WA|from@email.com"; and send it to a simple SMTP server (say something hosted on a linux box with accounts setup through CPanel) then it delivers every time, but with an iCloud address it never arrives until I change it to $MailFrom = "from@email.com";

It used to work up until a couple of months ago, so no doubt Apple changed something!

hmmm, interesting. I guess you should leave of the display name if you intend to send emails to iCloud or Mobile Me accounts.

Hi Jason,

Yep, thats the solution that works for me.

I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else was having the same problem really. I don't believe its an issue with the UE extension, but more a change with Apples setup. I do think that their SPAM management leaves a lot to be desired and hopefully iCloud email will improve over the next couple of years.

Cheers
