Checkbox issues - validation?

Hello,

Me again, I read through the topics on here and found mention of people having checkbox issues here and there, but I don't think there has been any concensus on a solution yet, so I thought I should bring it up again.

I have a checkbox being created by the DA wizzard and it always comes up as selected by default on an insert form.

The generated code for the checkbox is here and there seem to be some obvious issues in the code that is generated. Is a solution planned for the near future?

php:
<li class="formItem">
            <div class="formGroup">
                  <div class="lineGroup">
                     <div class="fullColumnGroup"><label for="page_locked" class="sublabel" >Page is locked from editing?:</label>
                          <div class="errorGroup">
<div class="fieldPair">
                       <div class="fieldGroup">
                       <span>
<label class="checklabel" for="page_locked"><input type="checkbox" name="page_locked" id="page_locked" value="1" class="formCheckboxField_Standard" <?php if (!(strcmp((isset($_GET["invalid"])?ValidatedField("sitepagesinsert","page_locked"):""),""))) {echo "checked=\"checked\"";} ?> tabindex="30"></label>
                       </span>
                       </div>
                       </div>
                          </div>
                     </div>
                  </div>
            </div>
            </li>

The important part:

php:
<input type="checkbox" name="page_locked" id="page_locked" value="1"  class="formCheckboxField_Standard" <?php if  (!(strcmp((isset($_GET["invalid"])?ValidatedField("sitepagesinsert","page_locked"):""),"")))  {echo "checked=\"checked\"";} ?> tabindex="30">

What works:

php:
<input type="checkbox" name="page_locked" id="page_locked" value="1" class="formCheckboxField_Standard" <?php if (!(strcmp((ValidatedField("sitepagesinsert","page_locked")),1))) {echo "checked=\"checked\"";} ?> tabindex="30">

In fact the

php:
$_GET["invalid"]

code seems to be added to all of my fields default values. Is this correct, or does this bug reach farther than expected?

I have logged a bug for this.

the real problem, is that the checkbox value is not used for the validated entries comparison.

the original code you posted:
<input type="checkbox" name="page_locked" id="page_locked" value="1" class="formCheckboxField_Standard" <?php if (!(strcmp((isset($_GET["invalid"])?ValidatedField("sitepagesinsert","page_locked"):""),""))) {echo "checked=\"checked\"";} ?> tabindex="30">

should actually be:
<input type="checkbox" name="page_locked" id="page_locked" value="1" class="formCheckboxField_Standard" <?php if (!(strcmp((isset($_GET["invalid"])?ValidatedField("sitepagesinsert","page_locked"):""),"1"))) {echo "checked=\"checked\"";} ?> tabindex="30">

I marked the change in red.

the $_GET["invalid"] code you reference is supposed to be there, it is used to create a ternary expression that is used mostly on the update page.

it is used so that the update page can show the recordset value for the initial value on page load, and show the validated entry value if validation fails.

OK, I am attempting to get some new work done again now that we are through a few updates and bug fixes.

I am still having an issue with what I think is the spry checkbox not being 'valid' when the checkbox is not checked. I will go through the process again, but I am pretty sure that validation was OFF for this checkbox, however, it won't submit the form because the spry checkbox (I think) is not satisfied with the checkbox being off. See image.

Any ideas?

It is indeed an issue with me not being able to turn off the checkbox validation in the wizzard under Form Validation and Field Settings for the checkbox. I can change all other settings, but not that one. Thus I get the spry checkbox and also the WA validation for the checkbox as well.

Any thoughts on this?

I got around this by changing the checkbox to a radio group, then going back to a checkbox. But it was definately stuck on required when it was selected initially.
