Custom domain configuration

Hello,

Getting support from WebAssist/CafeCommerce is far too opaque. I'm no stranger to using email or forums for support but these forums are ridiculous. Are previous threads deleted? There are hardly any questions and answers.

One of my domains hosted with Dreamhost is the domain I'd like to use for a CafeCommerce store. However, when I try to configure the domain, I'm limited to using wearethird.mycafecommerce.com or purchasing a new domain. If I try to complete the account setup with this existing domain, an error is generated.

How do I configure an existing Dreamhost hosted domain with CafeCommerce?

I found one question on a support FAQ page that seemed like it might hold the answer but the answer redirected me to the sign up page.

- Several days ago, I called WebAssist/CafeCommerce and left a message. I've received no reply.
- I've tried contacting live chat support. This is always offline.
- When I've used the 24/7 live chat support on the CafeCommerce support page, it always sends me to a page where I'm directed to Dreamhost. At least with Dreamhost, I can get a prompt email reply to any questions. I can also easily sign up for phone support and request a call back. I can't find such an option for CafeCommerce. WebAssist seems to offer a call back service but only for software products.

For crying out loud… can I get some help.

We do not delete threads from this forum, this is a new forum we have started to address issues that people have been having trying to get support from other channels.

You can have your Domain transferred to be a cafe commerce domain, but this is something Dreamhost would need to do or you.

Open a support ticket with Dreamhost, and they will be able to transfer your domain to a Cafe Commerce account

Custom domain configuration

Jason,

So, if I sign up for a CafeCommerce plan using the sub-domain, wearethird.mycafecommerce.com, can I switch to custom domain later? Will this affect the store database, etc?

Can I use a SSL certificate that I purchased separately? Or do I have the purchase a SSL certificate through CafeCommerce?

Once I have Dreamhost configure wearethird.net as a CafeCommerce domain, then do I have to come back to the CafeCommerce admin panel and sign up for a plan?

Is there a wiki article on this? I can be the only one with these questions.

you don't need to sign up for wearethird.mycafecommerce.com, if you contact Dreamhost support they will be able to add cafe commerce to your existing domain.

Any SSL Certificate that is implemented will be installed by the host. Dreamhost should be able to use a third party SSL certificate on your domain, but that is really a question for them to answer.

If you Open a support ticket with Dreamhost, they will be able to help you with setting up cafe commerce on your domain and adding the SSL Certificate.

Jason,

Thanks for the answer. It's helped me determine that won't be using CafeCommerce. The pass-the-buck style support and languishing development has made things clear.

I'm not trying to pass the buck, only trying to direct you to the channel that will best help you to get the results you are asking about.

cafe commerce is a php application that gets added t your domain. To have the cafe commerce php application added to your domain, you will need to contact the hosting provider that manages your Domain, in this case Dreamhost.

SSL Certificates also, are managed by the hosting provider that manager your domain.

If you contact Dreamhost support, they will be able to help you with these Domain specific issues.
