Multiple Issues

I have an existing contact form that I did before upgrading to DataBridge, I opened it to make a few small changes to the width of the text fields. After I saved it and uploaded my changes, while testing I noticed that the validation was no longer working. Now when I open the form for editing again the preview has no styling at all in it and if I try to re save the form, I loose all the formatting. Now I'm stuck with a form that has no validation and I can't edit.
Another issue with it that is probably related is that if I go to the Preset Manager and try to edit any of the CSS Form Builder presets, I get the two attached error messages happen when each gui is opened.

Note: The images have been crunched to much in the upload, error_1 reads "Error with preset selection: ReferenceError: options is not defined" and error_2 reads "Error generating preview: TypeError: DWfile.getAttributes(orig) has no properties"

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm not sure if it has something to do with editing forms from a previous version or editing forms in general. I'll be sure to look into this so that we can get it corrected in the next update that we are hoping to make available early next week.

If you need help correcting your page at this point, feel free to send me an IM when you see I'm online and I'll look into it with you.

Hi Ray,

Do you advice me to wait with upgrading to DataBridge untill the upcoming fix release?

I also exported some Form Builder presets and some other presets which i want to import again and maybe modify or re-use.
To avoid simmilar issues don't you think it is better to wait?

I won't advise anyone to wait, but you can make that determination on your own.

So far the issues that we have identified and are working on are:
1) an alert on startup if you have eCart installed... it is inconsequential and can be ignored
2) help links don't work in some interfaces
3) updating insert and update server behaviors from previous versions doesn't work
4) dataassist search crashes dreamweaver when the server behavior is edited and reapplied
5) editing a form after creation seems to have issues in some cases that cause it to lose styling
6) issues with importing and exporting data assist presets

If these particular issues are of major importance to you, then you can wait until next week. However if you can avoid these problems or live without them for a week there are dozens of features that do work properly that you could have a go at.

Hi,
Just purchased the upgrade and will start playing around with this new extension tonight!

One thing i read in the post but not on your list is about the 3th party (DMXZONE) extensions and then partically it's behavior connector.
Someone posted that after installing DataBridge the behavior connector of DMXZONE stopped working.

I will test tonight and if i get the same issue then i hope it will also be resolved in the upcoming release.

Dear Ray,

Please check this post as well and try to fix this issue also ASAP. It is very important i can still use these as well.

Thanks.

Hi Ray,
Some issues i found after playing around with DataBridge:

1. After playing around with creating DataAssist pages, when i create a new result page i can show/hide a delete button. This change is reflected in the preview window as it should.
Now when i create a detail page and want to change its look i also can choose to add a delete button or not but this time the change is NOT reflected in the preview window nor in the browser preview when clicking the preview window.
I think it should also preview the change on the fly, right?

2. Once i created some pages like: insert, detail and result with DataAssist i was thinking how i can change the design of the insert form on the insert page. So i went to the insert page and choose CSS Forms. I was hoping it would import the just created insert form for me to design to my liking but instead i got an error message, see attachment.

Is this the way to edit and re-design the layout from the insert forms created by DataAssist?

3. The problem with CSS FormBuilder is not solved! I tested the design form elements and the initial states (initial, valid, invalid, focus) return to defaults on change for: List, Menu, Radio Groups and Checkbox Groups. I have posted this before and it is still there!

Another issue regarding the Preset Manager:

Whenever i choose an existing preset to export or edit i get following error (screen 002)

If i choose ok to edit the choosen preset i get another error (003)

Hope the images will help to debug.

1) This does sound like a bug. I'll look into it for the upcoming release.

2) Because of the special things we do to the form in order to get it to work with the database, particularly on update pages, forms cannot be edited with form builder after generation. Forms should be edited with Dreamweaver directly when possible. When major edits are necessary you would have to re-run the wizard.

This error was reported and will be corrected in the upcoming release. Basically if you try to open form builder with an existing form selected it tries to import the form elements into the interface and that process causes this error. We will have it fixed soon, but you still wouldn't want to edit a form created by Data Bridge in this manner since it would remove some necessary code.

4) Form Builder was always designed as a Form Builder and not a form editor. We added basic re-entrance, but re-entrance really overwrites the form and any edits made by hand. Complete re-entrance is almost impossible given the ability to fully edit the form within dreamweaver after it has run. You expect it to keep validation messages... what about inline css added? style changes in the css? updates to the class names used? form element properties? What about if you physically move element positions on the page or change tab order? There are so many things you can change we really can't make the form builder smart enough to identify and maintain all of the edits you might want to do after it has run.

As a general rule once you have run the builder you should use Dreamweaver as the editor. If you want to make changes that are so drastic that you don't mind re-creating the form, then you can re-run the form builder wizard.

Lee reported the same error on export earlier in this thread. That appears to be a bug that we will be looking into today and including in the next update shortly.
