Power CMS not working despite having localhost installed

Power CMS not working despite having localhost installed

I've installed Design Extender, set up a localhost on my PC which works fine in DW liveview, and I set up the local testing server in DW. All works well. But when I try now to add PowerCMs to a selected content in DW design mode, nothing happens.

Before I had the localhost installed, when I selected content and pressed on "Add content to PowerCms", the PowerCms display appeared prompting me to "Create PowerCms Content". This way I found out that I needed to set up a localhost. Which I did (Xampp).
But as I say, now the PowerCms display doesn't appear any more, nor is any cms inserted in the selected content.

Also, in case I shall manage to get it working, what should I fill in as "Connection"? Your tutorial video doesn't explain this issue. (In the video it says "PowerCms Connection" - should I put that in, too?). I'm a complete newbie with php - this is a steep learning curve indeed. Please help."

Also, when I start Dreamweaver now, I get the following message:
Unable to find WA_SiteTools.html on the Configuration/Floaters directory. The floater will not be shown.

Please help urgently as I'm trying to set this up for a client.

before using Power CMS, there are a few things that you will need to have in place:

1) you need to properly define your dreamweaver site for dynamic development. see the "Defining a Dynamic Site in Dreamweaver" tutorial on the learning resources page:
tutorials.php

2) Create a database connection, see the "Creating your database connection in Dreamweaver" tutorial on the learning resources page.

3) Create a new php page and save it to your dreamweaver site.

with the new php page open , you can use power CMS Builder.

for the error you are getting, go to Window -> Workspace layouts -> Reset '<your layout name>'

I've defined my dreamweaver site for dynamic development (with Xampp).
I've also created a database connection in DW which work fine.
I've created a new index.php page and saved it to my dreamweaver site.

However if I now select some content on that php page and try to "add content to power cms", I get this message:
"Power CMS Builder is only available for PHP pages in PHP sites."

What am I doing wrong?

the page you are selecting the content on is not a php page.

a php page will have the file extension .php

Power CMS Builder cannot be added to static pages whose file extensions are .htm or .html.

it can only be added to dynamic web pages using the .php extension.

cms still not working

The page definitely is a .php page:
index.php

I'm getting now the PowerCms window, but when I have completed all fields and click on finish I get this message:
"Errors encountered when connecting to your database."
"MySQL error: #1045 / Access denied for user...... /(using password: YES)"

I've set the correct username/password, I'm sure. Please help. Thanks.

you would not get that error if the Username and password for the database where correct.

I have created a support ticket so we can look into this issue further.

FREE support ticket?

When I go to "submit a ticket" I can only choose between $49 or $99 ticket... I cannot afford that on top of the newly bought software.

I give up

Unfortunately I have to give up working with Design Extender which I mainly bought for its cms system.
After several hours again today trying to resolve error messages, then setting up the system on another website - without success - I really would need faster support in order to get on with my work. So, I prefer asking my money back.
