Not working

Not working

Following the thread for installing / re-installing Form Toolkit / Form Builder I am stuck again. After applying CAPTCHA I try to insert the Server validation for it.
All I get is a blank window (screenshots). After closing it there is another popup error.
I am spending more time with installing / uninstalling / reinstalling DA extensions than getting a simple form work. I will return this unfinished extension until it is working.
This is enough now. I want my money back.

I un-installed it, and now I get a pop-up message each time I open Dreamweaver "Unable to open script file ..."

What has to be done, to get rid of this experimental extension, so that Dreamweaver and all the other extensions are working properly again??? The error message looks into a folder Shared\WebAssist\WAFormToolkit\WA_Configuration.js.

I uninstalled it and deleted the Cache file

Hi this_is_me,

Have you tried removing your Dreamweaver cache and was Dreamweaver closed when you tried to uninstall it?

I've never had a problem with Form Toolkit (although I'm on a MAC), find it very useful and don't believe its experimental. I wonder if there is something else that might be conflicting or causing your problem?

Cheers
Ian

yes, tried it

I use quite a few WA Extensions for DW and of course I know the procedure of deleting the site cache.
And yes, they are great and help a lot to make life easier. Thats why we invest quite some money and time into these, even if you could do things on your own, quickly.
I called this Ext. experimental because I never had to uninstall some extensions first and then keep a certain order to re-install them. Maybe its the constellation of my extensions - but even if I un-install it, I get errors from Dreamweaver at every startup. After Dreamweaver loads, I stiil get error messages like missing translators...
There are times (most of the time actually) where you need quick solutions, because our clients want most things done quickly and we want to write bills quickly. Everybody can program forms and validate them. So, if I need more time to get a tool to work than the actual work would take, this is not what I expect.
So, I will use Spry validation and WA's tooltips

What version of CSS Form Builder are you using?

If all you are trying to make use of is the Form Toolkit Captch validation, you really don't need to install CSS form Builder along side Form Toolkit, all you really need to have installed is Form Toolkit for quickly adding captcha to the forms and adding validation.

Form Toolkit and Form builder are really for 2 completely different workflows:
Form Toolkit would be used to if you want a tool to create the forms for you.

form toolkit would be used if you prefer to create you own forms and add validation manually.

Form Builder

I use CSS Form Builder 1.0.2. I liked to use it to build a quick form - great. But of course sometimes you have older websites and their owners find they receive too much spam, so FT iwould be ideal to just add Captcha or Datepicker. I think this was the concept behind WA to have these two different extensions.
Why they would not like each other is beyond my understanding. I still have Alex July's captcha extension - but WA's idea of having the datepicker added some extra value...
I am about to install CS5.5. Do you think, it will be a good idea to start agian installing all extensions from scratch?

so this thread seams to have taken over for this other one you started:

showthread.php?t=26140

between these 2 threads i can cobble enough detail about the issue to tell what the cause is:

You are are using CSS Form Builder 1 with Dreamweaver CS5. CSS form Builder 1 is not compatible with Dreamweaver CS5, it was replaced By CSS Form Builder 2 before Dreamweaver CS5 was released. you will not be able to use CSS form Builder 1 in Dreamweaver versions above CS4.

Got rid of it

Thanks Jason,
I can't remember having seen any hint in my download. In my download section it says:

"This is the .mxp installation file for CSS Form Builder.

Please note: CSS Form Builder includes all the functionality of the older Validation Toolkit. If you own Validation Toolkit and it is currently installed, you will need to uninstall the extension from the Adobe Extension Manager prior to installing CSS Form Builder."

Would it be possible to add a note to each of the extensions that this is not compatible with Dreamweaver CS.x ?

I have Validation Toolkit 2. Does the above message apply to any Validation Toolkit? It can really be difficult to remember which extensions replace others and should be installed or removed, the more if you have to re-install Dreamweaver and WebAssist creates bundles which include extensions already purchased earlier.

So, I upgraded to CS5.5 and removed Form Toolkit completely. I still get an error message like in screenshot. Yes, I have deleted the cache file. It still shows this.

Before I removed Form Toolkit I had installed in that order:

Form Toolkit
Universal Email
Validation Toolkit2
HTML Editor3
CSS Sculptor 3.0.2
CSS Menu Writer
FW Builder
Pro Maps Google
Site Sculptor
Social Media TK
Dynamic Dropdowns
eCart 5.0.3
PayPal eCommerce TK
DataAssist 2.1.0

Installed a couple of others later, but can't remember the order.

I think you may have missed the point in my reply:

Form Toolkit _IS_ compatible with DW CS5.5

CSS Form Builder _Version 1.x_ _ IS Not_ compatible with DW CS 5.5. Version 2.x of CSS Form Builder _IS_ compatible

in other words:
you can use from Toolkit in DW CS5.5

but you cannot use CSS Form Builder version 1.x in DW CS5.5

No, did not miss it.

This extension caused too many problems for my work. So I gave it back and got a refund. I uninstalled it, erased the cache and still get this error message which does not go away! Is there a manual way to delete a folder / file? What script is still trying to still fire up this?
I again attach the screenshot. I hope it makes sense ...
