Powerstore v1 - Email driving me insane

hello,
I have a fully working Powerstore that until a customer flagged an issue today I thought was ok.
Problem is if a customer registers with a .com email address the welcome and verify email address function works ok and they recieve an email from the site.

If someone with say a xxx@domainname.biz or xxx@dorset.pnn.police.uk tries to regiter or verify their email address to gain access to the order history no emails are recieved.

I have tried changing the globals file from just a slash, /, to smtp.fasthosts.co.uk, and also smtp.domainname.co.uk but it still wont work.

I have the site hosted on a Fasthosts account.

thanks

It probably has to do with their spam filters and not with whether it uses .com or .biz or whatever the actual email is.

I doubt the problem is with the code itself, probably spam filters preventing the delivery.

Do you mean Fasthosts spam filters

Do you mean Fasthosts spam filters?
If so what should I ask them when I call? This is a shared hosting platform.

I mean the spam filters of the email addresses being sent the emails. Nothing to do with your code or your server is my best guess based on your description.

Check your SMTP log and see if you are having any errors. If there aren't errors it usually means the email is sent just fine, and the problem is with the spam filter of the person receiving the email.

Test completed - problem still exists

Hello Ray,
I have tested this using my own email addresses.
I get the email from my .com address but not my .biz address.
I have checked spam filter, and junk mail boxes on the .biz account nothing there.
I then set my spam filter to its lowest setting, put the email address the email is coming from into the white list, and set the preferences to just mark email as junk rahter than delete it.
Still nothing on the .biz address, but ok on the .com address.

Where is this smtp log? Is it at Fasthosts the hosting company?
Thanks
Mark

Yeah it sounds like it would have to be something with fasthost then. The code we produce doesn't really change at all depending on the email address, so your host must be blocking it somehow.

I would contact them and see if you can access the smtp errors or see if they can explain why the emails are not going through. I don't see how it could be a problem with the code based on your description, so it has to be some kind of setting on the host that they should know more about.

Hosting company say scripting error

Oh Boy!
This is the reply from fasthosts

Dear Sir / Madam,
Thanks for contacting us with your support enquiry.
It sounds like a scripting issue, as you say .com addresses are functioning fine.
As we do not support scripting, I would recommend you contact the developer of the script you are using.
Thanks again for contacting us.

Did they give you access to the smtp error logs? I'd get a new host because it makes no sense... if it works for .com, then it can't be a scripting issue, since the script doesn't know or care what the extension is as far as I know.... I'll create an incident for you.

Access it from your mywebassist section of our web site. We can have an engineer debug this with you directly.

Can you recommend a host that will be ok with this?

Hi Ray,
thanks for your help.
Can you recommend a hosting supplier, one we know things work with, Fasthosts seem so unhelpful.
