Captcha validation error

Thread began 4/10/2012 3:14 am by evansg7124312885 | Last modified 4/11/2012 7:43 am by Jason Byrnes | 1889 views | 6 replies |

Captcha validation error

When register is clicked, page reloads with unmatched entry notice. All other validations that appear above it pass for required entry.

I have added the validations for Unique Database Entry, and they are not recognizing when I put in duplicate values. I am hoping that this is only because it recognizes Captcha error on validation failure and stops looking.

I created a second file off of template and tested, same result. The only modification made to the Captcha element was to modify the form design to dull out the background for easier recognition of the required text.

in the captcha validation, you have the like entry set to compare the Sec_Captcha form element to the captcha_Sec_Captcha session variable, you should be using the captcha_Sec_Captcha_2 session variable instead.

the settings for unique database value look correct.

Good news, bad news

Good news, we passed most of the validations cited above.

More good news: DataAssist appears to be doing exactly what I told it to.

I did check code placement, to me it looks like the Insert Record behavior is occurring after the server validation.

Bad news: The unique database values validation failed. I put my email address in as the test guppie and it entered the duplicate value into the data base. I would have expected to reload the Registration page with the Show If condition stating duplicate email address to be the next thing that I saw. Some more good news is were still in development and Im the only one finding this stuff.

I did not test the second unique value field because so far, my test was the first entry into that field.

I would have expected the cycle to be stopped when the Email validation failed, is there something that I need to add to stop this cycle when the validation fails? I see SecAssist 2 adds a URL parameter in the go to page; do I to add that?

Thanks for the quick response, it is appreciated.

Never mind

I think I got it and form is working as expected. I deleted and recreated Unique Database values and then went to form and edited the Show If behaviors to the new validations. Tested all ways, getting rejections, unique entries are going through.

Thanks for the help getting me here.

How did you figure out the _2?

You posted a quick and effective reply with the _2; is there anything you can tell me how to find errors like this myself? I do most of my writing on Friday night and Saturday morning where I don't have quick access to assistance. If you have any pointers where to look or what I am looking for, I am all ears.

Thanks for the help,

the cade that generates the captcha image, also sets the name of the captcha session variable.

the image tag code on your page is:

php:
<img  src="webassist/captcha/wavt_captchasecurityimages.php?field=Sec_Captcha_2&transparent=true&font=fonts/MOM_T___.TTF" alt="Security Code" class="Captcha" />

the captcha session variable name is taken from the field querystring variable that is passed:
field=Sec_Captcha_2

the naming convention for the captcha session is "captcha_<Field URL Value>"
