The line item [item number] is invalid.

Almost operational - hope someone can help soon.

Where do I go to address this issue revealed on the checkout failure page?
The Auth.Net debugging code revealed the following:

Your transaction could not be completed.
Our payment gateway, Authorize.net has declined this transaction for the reasons listed below.

Response Code: 3

Reason Code & Text: 270 : Line item 1 is invalid.

270 -The line item [item number] is invalid.
A value submitted in x_line_item for the item referenced is invalid.

Transaction ID: 0

this error usually happens if one of the fields passed to Authorize.net in the checkout contains special characters like "<", ">", "&", "!". make sure the item names and descriptions going into the cart do not contain any characters that are not alpha-numeric.
