Modifying Insert and Update pages

Hello,

I used dataassist to create my insert and update pages for the admin side of my site. This allows us to easily add and edit products. These were created almost one year ago.

This year I needed to make changes to this Insert Form page. (and I also want to add these to the update page once I get it working on the Insert page)
I added two new fields to the Insert Page
The field names are General Plant Name and General Plant Description. I added the fields and edited the source code with the corresponding DB column names (ProductSectionHead, and ProductSectionText).

Everything displays well on the Insert page. I filled out the form with a new product info, filling in all the form fields and clicked Insert. However, the information entered into the two fields I just added (General Plant Name and General Plant Description) do not get added to the display page. I looked at my sql database and found that “NULL” value is listed in both of the corresponding columns (ProductSectionHead, and ProductSectionText)

My question:
How do I edit the Insert page so that these two new fields I added get populated with the data that is entered onto the Insert page?
Do I need (and how do I) re-open the DataAssist Wizard or did I overlook a changes needed to the code?

Thanks for your help,
Danielle

Dont edit the DataAssist insert record code manually for this.

Instead, go to the Server Behaviors panel (Window -> Server Behaviors) in the server behaviors list, double click the insert record server behavior (on the update page, double click the update record server behavior).

on the second page, select the new database columns, click the lightning bolt icon and select the new form elements from the form collection.

you may also need to edit the results and details pages, edit the recordsets to include the new columns in the select statement, then afdd the bindings to the page to show them.

I inserted a new field into mysql table.
I followed the instructions for updating a Data Assist insert page.
When I get to the second page (Insert Data Options) I can see the new Field Name listed in the column.

However when I click the Value lightning bolt the FieldName is not in the WADAInsertForm list.

I wondered if the connection was correct so I updated name fields and these show up on the Results Page correctly.

Thanks

John

Thanks Jason
I did not add the form element. I thought perhaps the wizard did that. So all's well

yeah, the form element needs to be added manually.
