you need to log into the api console

console

then activate the V2 API and generate an API key.

see the following page for details:

I have tried that but the generated key has no correlation to the domain name I want the key for. I had to log into my Google account then Turned ON the v2 API. It did not ask me for the domain name I want to add the google map to.

Are you guys going to bring out a new version of Pro Maps? Is there anythis elawe on the market you can suggest. Pro Maps really does not work any more.

Design Extender includes a version of Pro Maps that uses the v3 api.

A little known fact (I believe) is that v2 api doesn't really require an api key any more at all (neither does v3). You can probably get it to work by simply going into the code after application and removing the api key entirely.

Googlemap Api Key

Hi, Please how can I use prommap that uses v2 since google doesnt generate api for v2 any more. How do I bypass the Api key? Pro Maps asked for the Api and It wont let me go to the next step without inserting the key. thanks

you can still get a V2 api key.

go to the api console to get an API Key:
http://code.google.com/apis/console

after creating the API key, go to the services tab, and turn on the Google Map v2 api.

if you want to try using it without an Api key, enter dummy data for the api key, then delete it from the code after the page is created.
