update or not?

Hi Jason

wondered if you could do me a favour??

for whatever reason over the past weeks Ray has re written some of the code for me on
pcjsealers.co.uk

what he did I know not!!!! but the site now works goes to paypal etc etc.

Can you check my support history, drop Ray an email and ask him if I should update or not. I don't want to undo his stirling work - if you follow

regards

Ian

ps my neighbour failed to get tickets for the HHG party so he's hoping for a tv transmission

I'm in the same position. I'd rather have Ray or Jason or Dani handle the update because of so many changes. I know I'd break something!

I recognize a lot of the updates from my own issues, so I bet I have a lot of it already in place.

thanks

Yes that's why I dont want to risk "breaking" the site.

The age old adage perhaps

if it aint broke ......

Please let me know if I need to open another paid ticket to get help with upgrade. I did some paid tickets that addressed many of these issues, so need to know if all good, or if I need another ticket.

Thanks as always.

I'd say give it a try on your own first.

Upgrading should just mean saving a backup of your files (just in case... better safe than sorry)

Then overwriting the old files with the new files from the update .zip file.

If you run into issues, then you can always go back to your previous version you have saved.

You can of course pay for a premium support ticket and have one of us call you and walk you through it, but give it a try on your own first and you'll likely save yourself the ticket price.

For the most part if your site is up and running and you are happy with performance and not running into any issues that appear to be bugs, then you don't have any real reason to update. The only significant feature addition is moving the credit card information to the confirm page so that users can see their total with tax and shipping before entering their credit card, so if that is compelling enough for you then that might be a reason to upgrade as well.

I'm going with the paid ticket. The client is in the middle of a catalog response, so I'd like to wait for 2 weeks. My client will pay for it, and I'd be more comfortable.
