Technical Support Ticket # 135887 from Dec.

Hi Jason,
I'm finally getting back to this. Starting on a new site. I uploaded all the files and I'm doing the install using the Power Builder serial number. This is the message I get. ERROR: The serial number you entered is invalid. Double-check that you entered the serial number correctly.

You said I could use Power CMS2 files but use Builder serial number. Do I need to change something else as well?
Thank you,
Laura

I misspoke when saying that you could use the CMS Builder serial number with the Power CMS 2 files.

You can do a manual install of the Power CMS Builder CMS Files though.

The Power CMS Builder CMS Files are ion the users configuration folder.

for help finding the configuration folder, see the common installation issues PDF:
common_installation_issues.pdf

In the configuration folder go to /Configuration/shared/webassist/PowerCMS/CMS you can copy the files from this directory to your site to manually install the CMS System

Power CMS

Now I'm totally confused. I have all the CMS2 files uploaded to the site. You're telling me I have to delete everything and start over with Builder? Why can't you just give me a serial number that works? I don't make that many sites and I mostly use them for municipalities. I really don't want to go back to Builder because that was a disaster. I've wasted so much time on this already.

Thank you,
Laura

I'm not saying you have to use power cms builder in Dreameaver.

all i am saying is that rather than uploading the Power CMS 2 files to your site , upload the power cms files that are in the cms folder of the configuration folder. using those files will give you the functionality you are asking for.

Got it! It's working. Not exactly sure what's going on but I documented the steps so I should be good to go for the next time.

Thanks so much!
