you will need to change the page extension form .html to .php.

in order t ouse Data Assist, you will first need to have a data base. if your site pages use the .php extension, you will be able to use data assist on them.

all you need to do to switch to php is to change the file extension from .html to .php

I did the save as, as a Php and tried to use data assist and it did not work, it did create all the pages separate but not in my website so I copied and pasted the code into the pages of my site and when I loaded up on my server my site would not load at all.

copying and pasting the code is not a good idea.

let data assist create the pages, and use the pages that it creates. you can apply your site design to them after the pages are created.

you need to have your site definition properly configured to create the files in your site.

see the "Defining a Dynamic Site in Dreamweaver" tutorial on the learning resources page:

"and when i save as a Php the source code online still says that my site is html..." I'm not sure what you mean by this, can you elaborate please?

My hole website is one Html Page, All 25+ pages on my site is on my index.php file and data assist makes the pages on all diff. files. I have a MySql database with all my products already on it. So I'm trying to integrate data assist directly into my site so it doesn't look like a add on. and I used the save as to make my website a Php but in the source file online the doc type is still Html.

if you want to use the files created by Data Assist in the one main index page, you would need to use the Framework Builder extension to include them as plugins.

I still don't understand what you mean by:
"and I used the save as to make my website a Php but in the source file online the doc type is still Html."

the doc type wont change. using the. Using the .php extension only tells the webserver that the file may contain PHP code and should be processed by the PHP engine before sent to the client browser to execute the server side code.

the source code you see in the browser will still be HTML code. Some of that HTML code may be generated dynamically at run time by the php processor, such as retrieving info from a database and displaying it on the page.
