Do I have to use MySQL

Question: Do i need to use MySQL

1. I have dreamweaver
2. I have Hostpapa hosting where I can set up MySQL database and user which I already have on on a web site.

3. I have a MAC so downloaded MAMP
4. Set up database and saved web pages to htdocs on MAC
5. Set up remote and testing server and used locahost as testing.

All works well!

This is what I want to do:

I don't want to save any web sites to my MAC as starting to get a big client list, I save everything to an external harddrive. Do I have to save them to htdocs on the MAC or can I set up POWER CMS Builder to just work on remote server and save all my files to the server.

If so how?

when setting up your site in dreamweaver, you must set a local path for the file. Dreamweaver cannot create the files entirely on the remote server.


you don't have to use the local server for testing (although it is quicker and a better way to work).

in the site definition, you can set the testing server to use the remote server.

So i can do this exactly I make a normal without CMS.

Build the site and set the root folder to my harddrive and save everything there, I then upload them all to my host.

So I just make a MySQL database and user name and password and put this in the site definition. once Power CMS is all installed and saved to root folder on Hardrive just upload all content to host!
