Australia Post Not Working With International Postcodes

I have a shopping cart created with eCart 5 that sells goods mainly within Australia and New Zealand. All of a sudden the postcodes for New Zealand are not being recognised and I get a shipping quote failure message that says "Please enter a valid To postcode.". I have double checked the address and the postcode is correct so I don't know what the issue is. Seems to work with Australian addresses fine.

Further to the above I found the following comment in a blog post at australia-post-api-for-shopping-carts.html

ratecalc.asp is almost phased out. As part of auspost revamping, they changed the api calls also. You can download latest API from : developer-centre-api-specification-for-pac-and-pcs-1.3-20110929.pdf

Sample App : pac/

Developer URL : devcentre/

Does eCart need to be updated to make use of the new Australia Post API?

it could be that the service type selected does not support shipping from australia to new zealand,

add the following code to the failure page so we can see the full request and response coming back:

php:
Request:<br />

<?php echo(htmlentities($_SESSION["bakatus_AusPost_FullRequest"])); ?>
Response:<br />
<?php echo(htmlentities($_SESSION["bakatus_AusPost_FullResponse"])); ?>

I will forward the info about the api changes to the development team so they can look into it.

Here is the response:

Request: Pickup_Postcode=4500&Destination_Postcode=2014&Country=AU&Service_Type=STANDARD&Weight=80&Length=430&Width=300&Height=140&Quantity=1

Response: charge=0 days=0 err_msg=Please enter a valid To postcode.

It seems to default to AU as the country even though NZ is selected.

Sorted out, I had added some custom code to the confirm_order.php page that set the PostageType session to 'STANDARD' if the country was 'AU' and 'AIR' for all other countries. The code was:

php:
<?php
// set the service type variable
if ($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] == "POST") {
    if (
$_POST["shipping_country"] = 'AU') {

$_SESSION['PostageType'] = 'STANDARD'

    } else {

$_SESSION['PostageType'] = 'AIR'
    }
}
?>

When it should have been:

php:
<?php
// set the service type variable
if ($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] == "POST") {
    if (
$_POST["shipping_country"] == 'AU') {

$_SESSION['PostageType'] = 'STANDARD'

    } else {

$_SESSION['PostageType'] = 'AIR'
    }
}
?>

$_SESSION['shipping_country'] was being set to 'AU' regardless of which country was selected.

WebAssist should still look into the new API's though, there is no telling how much longer the old one will function correctly.

Thanks for your help Jason.

ok, glad to hear it is working.

the current API will still function till the end of the year, we will be updating eCart and other products that use australia post before then.
