Fatal error installing Powerstore 450

Dear all,

I tried to install Powerstore450. Upped all hte files to the directory started the wizard but after filling in step 3 (servername etc) i get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_set_charset() in /var/www/sites/www.MYDOMAIN/htdocs/www2/PowerStore450/PowerStore Files/install/database.php on line 46

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Best regards,

this is due to the PHP version on your server. You will need to have your host upgrade the PHP version to version 5.2.3 or greater.

Then why did it install without that problem on to MySQL client version: 5.0.51a? (Server version: 5.0.51a-24+lenny5-log)

Also, requirements as stated by you for product:

PHP 5+
MySQL 4 or MySQL 5
Linux and Windows hosts supported

this is a new one on me, I have never seen someone complain that they did _not_ have a problem before...

the issue is that the mysql_set_charset() function that is used on the connection fie to allow the use of UTF-8 characters in the database is not available in PHP versions prior to 5.2.3 (I misspoke in my previous replay that it was the MySQL Version, it is actually the PHP Version, I will update that.)
function.mysql-set-charset.php

I will aslo contact the documentation to have the system requirements updated.

Thanks.

Mistaking PHP for mySql was the spanner in the works. Glad to have that clarified.
