Insert only update page & Calc field?

Insert only update page & Calc field?

Hi, is it possible to join 2 tables using DA wizard or do I need to manually create recordsets in DW to achieve this? I have 2 tables that I need DA update/insert pages to write to then display the info from both tables in results page?

TblContacts [ContactID] + TblHolidays [HRContactID] contain data about staff holidays and need to allow the update/insert pages to insert data into both.

I tried this with no success:
Used DA wizard based on TblHolidays to create pages. On insert page design I created a new recordset [rsHolidayForm] joined 2 tables added required fields from each table and tested, seems fibne in query window. I then added these fields to the insert page form, opened page and created a new record, the data was added to the TblHolidays but not into TblContacts?

I am sure there must be an easier way to do this, most of my project will be based on each page having multiple tables backend?

Kind regards

Gary

the wizard will not create pages that insert or update into 2 tables. to insert to a second table, you will need to add a second Insert record behavior.

In the First insert record behavior, look in the Section titled session variable, this will store the ID of the new record into a session variable it is inserted. when adding the second insert behavior, you can bind the relationship column of the second table to the session variable values to relate it to the parent table.

Good afternoon Jason, I tried the following, but its not clear to me, are there any tutorials on this, when I select help in DA it doesn't load anything?

So far I run DA wizard on tblHR to create results, update & insert pages on that table. All good so far. I then look in server behaviours panel 'insert record [tblHR]', where do I find the session variable ID, I look at the code but didnt see any ID?

If I could find it what next, do I use DA to create 'single record insert'?

To be honest I'm lost with the terminology here "you can bind the relationship column of the second table to the session variable values to relate it to the parent table." How do I do this, any steps?

Really could do with some documentation on DA, its not so clear to beginners..
