Changing payment gateways

Changing payment gateways

I just found out that I made an error. Sagepay and Sage Payment Solutions are 2 different things. My merchant account is with Sage Payment Solutions. They do not appear on your list of payment gateways. I was told by Sage Payment Solutions that I can use Authorize.net instead. Will I have to redo all of my checkout pages? Is there another way to change payment gateways without deleting all of my completed checkout pages? Or, is there a way that I can still use Sage Payment Solutions? It took me some time to get all of those pages looking the way that I want.

No, you will need to recreate the checkout pages using the checkout wizard to change the payment gateway.

Connection file errors?

OK, I re-ran the the checkout wizard to change my payment gateway to authorize.net. I get this error when I try to checkout from checkout.php. I never changed anything in the connection file. Shouldn't it still work? I have attached the file mentioned in the error.

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/71/7629671/html/Connections/extreme.php on line 9

this usually means that the connection file is set to connect to the local testing server MySQL Server, you need to change it to connect to the remote mysql server.

How do I change that?

Also: my clear cart and checkout buttons have red exclamation points next to them in the server behaviors window.

go to the database tab, double click the connection and edit it.

a red exclamation point only means that DW cannot inspect the code properly. It is a notice, not an error. if the page functions correctly in the browser, it can be ignored, if not, then there is a problem to be investigated.

does it function in the browser?

Forgive me for not knowing what is going on, but when I double-click the database from the database tab, it shows the local connection, which is filled out correctly. I have 2 connection files in my files panel and they are both looking correct. What else do I need to edit? I haven't changed these files in a month. As soon as I run the checkout wizard again, I can't checkout. Why should I have to edit these files?

I do not know if the red exclamation points are affecting my site. All I know is that as soon as I saw red exclamation points, my site stops working.

Once again, I have not changed my working connection files in any way. Now they do not work.

the connection files need to be edited to connect to the remote site, not the local site.

Ok. I think I am going in the right direction. Do I no longer need the localhost connection file? I need to edit the existing localhost connection file to have the remote connection?

yes, you need to edit the existing localhost connection file to connect to the remote database.

changing the connection details will mean you cannot test the files on your local testing server any more.

one trick i use for this is to set up the connection for the remote database, then set the permissions for the connection file on the remote server to be read only. Then edit the connection file again to change it back to the local connection details.

this way the connection file uploaded to the remote server has the correct details to connect to the remote server. the connection file on your local server has the correct details to connect to the local server.
