Internal error on the installation of SecurityAssist

After receiving an email about the upgrade 2.0.4 being available, I decide to install it in place of my 2.0.3 version.
Now I have lost my 2.0,3 version, and 2.0.4 will not install, it stops with a message about "internal error," then continues without adding the upgrade.
Earlier after a "hang" by the install, I did do a reboot.
I did install a non-WebAssist extension with no problem during this reinstall time. I do have several WebAssist extensions previously installed.
I did several more attempts, but no luck. I tried a reinstall on 2.0.3 and the same problem. What should I do?

Without knowing more about the error or about your version of Dreamweaver, operating system and other installed extensions it's hard to say what the issue may be.

However, these are basic steps you can take to try to resolve it until we know more or someone from WA gets involved.

If you have Cookies Toolkit installed, remove it. Fully remove all versions of Security Assist. Then clear your WinFileCache.dat file. This may be in a different location than this depending on your OS. Mine is located by typing in %appdata% in a windows browser and then finding this path Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration.

The WinFileCache.dat file will have other chars appended to it but it will be the only one there with WinFileCache. Delete it. Then try installing Security Assist again and see if that helps.

did you uninstall the previous version from the extension manager before this newer one? An time you install a newer extension, you must make sure to uninstall the older one.

No initial removal of 2.0.3

No, I did not remove 2.0.3 from the extension manager. Currently, I have no listing of SecurityAssist 2.0.3 or 2.0.4 listing. With a file search, I can not find any WASecurityAssist files on the computer... except my download. I am running Dreamweaver CS5.5 with OS Windows 7 (64-bit).

I did try earlier try the WinFileCache.dat removal with no luck.

What should I try next?
