How can Authenticate user with a passcode for registration

How can Authenticate user with a passcode for registration

I want to limit access of who can register with per-determined pass codes stored in my database. Upon submitting the form, I want the server to validate if the code is valid and pre-stored in the database list. How do I go about doing this? I have all of the Webassist extensions in case I need another tool to accomplish this. Is this a validate function or an authenticate function?

Thanks in advance.

create a recordset that will look up the entered passcode, in the insert record behavior, set the trigger to Recordset Not Empty.

you can also show an error on the page using the Dreamweaver show region behavior.

Jason-

I set up the recordset in the dreamweaver bindings. I selected the "passCode" field that stores the pass codes in my SQL database.

Now where do I execute the additional instructions you gave me? Are they in CSS form builder - Validation > Server Validation, Security Assist > Authenticate User, or in dreamweaver? Forgive my ignorance here, I am a designer branching into coding.

Thanks

on the registration page, there is an insert record server behavior.

open the server behaviors panel, in he list of server behaviors, double click the insert record server behavior, set the trigger to Recordset Not Empty.

I suspect I am setting up something incorrectly here - because I am still having some issues.

1. I just add the recordset to the "passCode" field from bindings
2. I select the "Insert Record (user)" server behavior and I change the trigger to "Recordset: passCodes is not empty"
3. when I test it it no longer shows the registration page at all it instantly bounces to the "Go to" page.

Thanks for you time.

how are you defining the passCode recordset?

what are you entering for the filtering options?

you need to set the passcode recordset to filter the passcode column using the form element for entering the passcode.

if you need further details, send a copy of your page.

Jason I would like further details. Attached is the test pages I am working on. I don't have the answers to the questions you are asking. I need to know how to define the recordset as well as how to set the filtering elements.

thanks
