PEAR mail error

Dear Webassist,

I am getting an error that you can see below. The path to pear is working correctly but the email is not being send as I am getting this error message.

Fatal error: Call to undefined method PEAR_Error::send() in /home/curaroma/public_html/webassist/email/PEAR_Mail_using_SMTP_php.php on line 256

I am using Universal Email 4.0.1 in CS5. I noticed in known issues there is a patch for using PEAR mail which I installed but I am still getting this warning.

Can you Help.

this points to a problem with the installation of the Pear Mail package on the server.

Double check with your host that they Have the Pear Mail Package installed, and double check that you are entering the correct Path To Pear in the smtp server settings.

Thanks for that. I have double checked the smtp setting and had the server checked for the correct pear configuration.

Every seem correct except I am getting this fatal error now.

Fatal error: Class 'Net_SMTP' not found in /home/curaroma/php/Mail/smtp.php on line 349

this is still an issue with the Pear configuration, the error is happening in the home/curaroma/php/Mail/smtp.php, this is a file installed an configured by the Pear Package installer.

Dear Jason,

I got PEAR mail installed correctly but I am not get the mail sent. I turn on error reporting and got these errors in return.

Dear Jason,

Thank you for taking a look for me. The only thing I have change in the code you asked is the smtp authentication and have put in placeholder text.

here is an updated copy of the webassist/email/PEAR_Mail_using_SMTP_php.php file that should correct the issue.

Dear Jason,

Thank you so much, that got rid of the errors correctly. I am still having trouble. I have tested and am apple to send using my smtp credentials on port 25. The emails send and received correctly, but if I use port 465 which is the one I need to use the email does not get sent and the script takes a long time to execute with no results. I am using Amazon's SES with SMTP credentials. I have tested the SMTP information on my local system and they are working. I have also tested them on the server using this simple script that sends using Pear Mail. You can see below:

<?php
require_once "Mail.php";

$from = "Sandra Sender <sender@example.com>";
$to = "Ramona Recipient <recipient@example.com>";
$subject = "Hi!";
$body = "Hi,\n\nHow are you?";

$host = "ssl://mail.example.com";
$port = "465";
$username = "smtp_username";
$password = "smtp_password";

$headers = array ('From' => $from,
'To' => $to,
'Subject' => $subject);
$smtp = Mail::factory('smtp',
array ('host' => $host,
'port' => $port,
'auth' => true,
'username' => $username,
'password' => $password));

$mail = $smtp->send($to, $headers, $body);

if (PEAR::isError($mail)) {
echo("<p>" . $mail->getMessage() . "</p>");
} else {
echo("<p>Message successfully sent!</p>");
}
?>

I am happy to send the Amazon SMTP information privately if that would help. Many thanks again for your help.
