So frustrated under DW CS5.5

So frustrated under DW CS5.5

I got the CS5.5 upgrade, and after installing my extensions I got a JavaScript error. It happened after I accidently installed database search when it was included in Data Assist 2. (It would really help if there was a list on your site that would list what of all of the packages you have should be installed, since newer versions seem to combine multiple older packages). So I uninstalled database search, and run DW 5.5 again. It died with no error message. So I looked for the cache file, and it wasn't there. The next suggestion the forum gave was to uninstall everything. So I did, and DW5.5 worked again. I reinstalled everything again (less db search), and PowerCMS Builder that I just bought today. DW 5.5 dies again with no error message, and there is no cache file to delete.

I’ve been using your products for over 5 years (I switched from InterAKT), so I am not a new user.

I am so frustrated that I have done what the forum said to do (which did work for CS4), and it doesn't work with 5.5. I've wasted about 3 hours now, and still can't use my Web Assist products in CS 5.5. I re-installed only the packages that I have installed in CS 4, so why does 5.5 still blow up? I've included a screen shot of what I installed. What do I need to do different, I just need CS5.5 to work.

In your screen shot i see you have installed Photo Assist and Ebay Store Builder, These 2 have been discontinued for about 3 or 4 years and will not wirk in CS 5, they should be uninstalled.

I see you also have CSS Form Builder 2 and HTML Editor 3, when installing these 2 together, you should make sure to install the CSS Form Builder 2.0.1 Support Release 2 version from the Download center, make sure to install CSS Form Builder first, then install HTML Editor 3.

Also, Cookies toolkit is not built into Security Assist 2, It should not be installed if you are also installing Security Assist 2.

what i would do is to recreate your workspace layout (Window -> Workspace Layouts -> Reset '<your layout name>'), close Dreamweaver, then delete the cache file:
common_installation_issues.pdf

Now open the extension manager and uninstall the following extensions:

Photo Assist
Ebay Store Builder
Cookies Toolkit
Form Builder
HTML Editor
Security Assist

Go to the Download center and make sure to download the CSS Form Builder 2.0.1 Support Release 2 version.

The install CSS Form Builder, followed by HTML Editor 3 and finally Security Assist 2.

Jason, I too am upgrading to CS 5.5 and am reinstalling my extensions. I would love to see a master list of what has been included in what programs, what to install and in what order. I have installed and uninstalled quite a few things so far.

the Master list of our current extensions can be found here:
dreamweaver-extensions/

If an extension is not on this list, it is not compatible with CS.5

For the most part, there is no install order except for installing these three last:
Form Builder 2.0.1 Support Release 2
HTML Editor 3.0.1
Security Assist 2

It wasn't compatibility I was most concerned about but what is now included in other programs. You master list includes everything but I believe that you don't install Universal Email as it is not included in another program and I think the same goes for Digital File Pro. I get errors on these things and have to uninstall because I forget that they are now included in other programs. I also have Theme-it but I think it is also included in something else, so do I install Theme-It or not?

Thanks

On the page I sent a link for it mentions for Universal Email and Digital File Pro:
"These features are included when installing CSS Form Builder 2.x and greater."

Theme-It has been discontinued as a stand alone extension since it is built into Site Sculptor.

you will not need to install Theme-It if you install Site Sculptor, but it will not create any conflicts if you do.
