UE 4.01 Cant Get it to work?

Not sure to be honest what I am doing wrong.

I have a simple page with a comment field and a submit button. as each comment is submitted it appears in a repeat region. What I was hoping for the UE to do was send an email of the comment to my personal email address.

I managed to fill in the relevant fields but couldn't get it to work!

In the UE, the FROM field doesn't have an address, its a comment being posted from my web site. I entered my email address in the FROM field and the TO field, But still no luck.

I then noticed the smtp and port properties, but I dont have a clue about this side of things. I have a google email address. If that helps.

I was running the page from my local host but wasnt sure if that was the answer. Does the page have to be uploaded to my server to enable it to work?

Sorry for so many questions, but this is very new to me.

I can send you a page but I thought It better to explain things first.

Thanks

Testing from your local computer will not work unless you have an SMTP Server installed to relay the email.

You should do your testing on the live server.

In many cases, leaving the SMTP Server and Port settings blank will be ok, but if it is still not working, you will need to contact the host to determine the correct SMTP server and port settings to use.

Your host may have an SMTP Server that requires authentication, if this is the case, you will need to use the Pear Mail For SMTP mail object instead of the standard mail object.

The from address should be a valid email address for your domain, make sure to use a different address for both the from address and the to address.

Thanks Jason

I will give it another go, still not sure about this "The from address should be a valid email address for your domain, make sure to use a different address for both the from address and the to address." as the there is no email address. The web site address is www.midasnmd0010.acacia-technologies.co.uk does this mean I have to assign the web site an email address?

Sorry for being so stupid!

Yes, most hosts will have a control panel where you can figure services for your site, among these will be a way to set up email addresses associated to your site, for example:

support@midasnmd0010.acacia-technologies.co.uk

or
info@midasnmd0010.acacia-technologies.co.uk
