Have products specific to catagory only show in side menu on results page PS4.5

Hello,

I found a thread that was specific to PS 3 that does not appear to work with PS 4.5.

I have 2 Categories Rentals and Purchases. I have it set up that Rentals show "Call for Pricing" when the dollar amount is set to 0 and shows the price when it is not $0.

I was able to modify the main menu to show only products for the rental category in the drop down and only products for purchase when I am on the respective landing pages.

I am stuck on the results page. How, when I click on the rental category, do I get the side menu to show only Rental products? I was going to create a rentals_sidemenu.php, setting the show results to either category 1 or 2, but then I run into the issue where the templates are locked.

I'm not sure I follow, the side menu does not display products, the side menu displays the categories, the products are displayed in the main area of the results page.

can you send a link so I can get a better idea of what you are asking for.

I have attached screen shots and the address is www.martab.com. I have the 2 categories on my testing server not the live server.

From the attached shots: When I click on Equipment Rentals in the main menu it takes me to the product results page. On the product results page I have the side (accordion) menu that shows Purchase (category) and no sub categories then Rentals (category) with sub categories.

I was able to modify the main menu to show only rental subcategories and purchase subcategories in the drop down when the viewer is on the respective landing page.
What I would like to do is; When I click on a rental subcategory in the main menu and go to the results page I want to show only the rental category and rental subcategories in the side menu and not Purchases. Then only purchases when that category is selected.

this is not a supported feature of power store 4, it would take quite a bit of custom coding to accomplish.
