Do u really not have to know php and MySQL????

I feel like this software isn't as easy as they say it is. I'm doing tons of research on sql, mysql and php to the point where I'm feel like Im not even going to need the software at the end of the day. Does anyone else feel that way?

You do have to know php and mySQL if you want to design and create your own application using php and mySQL.

As you learn the technologies involved you may appreciate what the tools do for you even more... since you will understand everything that you don't have to do on your own every time.

Well, I think you need at least a basic knowledge about those two. DataAssist have some great tools which simplify a lot of tasks. In my opinion, DW should have provided some of these. Because if you look at it, since Dreamweaver MX there has not been a lot of innovation on the php/mysql server model. I don't know this for asp or others, though.

And this is where DA and other tools come in. They fill the gap and although rather costly, they abbreviate the construction process. So, in my opinion its worth.

Sometimes they have annoying bugs which are not always easy to find. But as far as I am concerned, Ray and his team are really doing a great support job here.

I agree

I think a working knowledge of php and mysql really helps when using Webassist products, and tailoring them with a little bit of hand-coding really shows their worth.
There are some things I have done with ecart, such as managing coupons and offers via a web interface, or inventory control, that can't be done using the wizards alone, but I would have probably not even attempted them were it not for the infrastructure of ecart.

Wizards are great, but knowing what they do, the how and the why, is the key.

Even seasoned developers could save a great deal of time.
