eCart 5 and Data Assist

Ok so I have a website that I am converting into a dynamic site and I have purchased the Dynamic Suite. I'm a little lost on how I should setup data assist and eCart to reflect how I want my site to run. My site is a ecommerce clothing site so I need options for different sizes and weight to reflect the price for t-shirts. I would like to use pictured buttons for size options on the detail page instead of drop-down menus. I am using the MySQL database that webassist offered and I have already populated the options, optiongroups, and productoptions tables for sizes. I have attached screenshots of them, will they work and what do I need to add?

Data Assist:

I have already ran the data assist wizard for my admin pages, but I know that you can't use multiple tables for the wizard so how do I incorporate or setup data assist so I can upload my products with the correct size and weight options they need?

eCart:

How do I have the ecart calculate the right price based on productprice, productsize, and productweight?

How do I incorporate my size-button images? For instance, I click on the large size-button and click the add to cart button, it plugs in the large size and weight into the order details?

Any help is appreciated...thanks

with data assist, you will need to use the manage relational table behavior to assign the Size and color options to the product.

the Data Assist manage relational table behavior is used for managing your linking table (productoptions) to create the many to many relationship.

where you have a different weight for the sizes, you will need to add a new column for optionsWeight to the productoptions table.

Andrew reed posted this tutorial for working with the manage relational table behavior:
showpost.php?p=84393&postcount=17

for eCart and product sizes, see the "Product Options with eCart" tutorial on the eCart support page:
ecart/

the first section deals with options that do not change the price, the second section deals with products that do effect price.

The add to cart button will not support options using a button, only a select list or a checkbox. we cannot offer support for sing a button for the options.

For the productweight options, should I include the weight of the box, or does ecart handle that when I add USPS as the carrier?

if you want the weight of the box included in the total weight that is passed to USPS< you should include it in the product weight.

Is there any way to set it up to where I include the box weight, but lets say the customer adds 2 shirts to the order, I don't want them to get charged twice for the box weight, so can I have it to where if they order multiple items, the box weight doesn't get added multiple times?

Box weight is a very negligible part of the shipping rate, perhaps 1/4 of a cent, it's not really some thing to worry 2 much about.

every quarter of a cent counts my man when you are doing high volume that is…not meant to be sarcastic but merely making an observation.

I agree Tom, so Jason is there a solution to this?

eCart does not factor box weight into the shipping quote

if you want the box weight to be factored into the shipping rate, it needs to be factored into the product weight

the shipping rate is taken from the total weight of the items in the cart,
