PayPal compatible with Security Assist???

PayPal compatible with Security Assist???

I have access to subscription pages controlled by username/password using Security Assist.

The subscription will be a one time payment for 3 months of access.

I have just been on the phone for quite some time with a PayPal rep who send me to a help page that seems to state that PayPal must generate and assign usernames and passwords for any access to the site when they do the payments.

Is this correct? If it is, how are the variables for the username and password communicated to my code so the database table can be updated? They are REALLY short on giving any kind of information at PayPal.

With all that said, what I was looking for is a simple returned value that indicates the payment has been made and then I can update my data to give the subscriber access through their username and password that is already in the site from Security Assist.

They don't seem to do that. Has anyone worked with them before and have any idea how to get this (SHOULD BE) very simple "yes the payment was received" response from PayPal?

What PayPal Method are you using? PayPal Standard? PayPal Express Checkout? or Paypal Direct Payments?

PayPal Standard

I think I have gotten a direction with this from PayPal's support. They don't return any electronic indicator (a post return) with their basic payment processing with the payment buttons they generate from their site. They only send an email that would then require manual updates of the client records. According to their support I need to have a full shopping cart setup even though there is only one product at this time.

My biggest confusion at the beginning of talking to thme is that they have a service where they will generate usernames and passwords but that didn't look like it would work at all with the Security Assist files I have setup.

Bottom line is that I think this is handled. I am setting up the eCart and may have a couple of questions as I get that going.
