Create your access rule (if not already created)

Then highlight the words "Add User" on the page. (This only seems to work for me in design view).

In the server behaviours panel click the plus button

choose webassist > security assist > show region

In the pop up dialogue box choose your access rule and click OK

That should do it.

Sorry, I thought you had already got that far.

To access the Access Rules Manager, go to WebAssist > SecurityAssist > Manage Site Access > Access Rules Manager

Click the plus button to add a rule

To save me typing it all out click the help button and it will work you through it. here's a direct link to that help page access_rules_mgr.html

Post back if you still get into difficulties.

Hi John

i have a rule for lodg in a user so would i edded this or make a new rule or lodg in as admin?

Basically, yes.

If you don't want anybody logged in as user to see the link, then make another rule, you can call it what you like but admin is fine, and then apply that rule to the link. Then only those logged in with the admin privilege would see it (the link that it).

This can be a complex subject.

I learnt how to do it by watching some interactive tutorials by Mark Fletcher. These are for Security Assist version 1 and I'm assuming you are on V2 but the principle is basically the same.

As well as the tutorials there is also a pdf download you can read.

Follow this link and then click on Archived Documentation on the right. Towards the bottom there is a subject of User Level Authentication. Just follow the videos in order and it should put you in the correct direction. Or read the PDF doc.

You'll see in those videos that it talks about downloading files. Not sure if they still exist or not but you don't need them. Just watch and learn... :)
