When closing Universal Email after editing, I get the following error:

"While executing applyServerBehavior in WA Universal Email.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."

I have tried the numerous fixes described on the site with no success. I did not have this problem in CS4 but I've recently upgraded to CS5.

I reinstalled CS4 Dreamweaver and tried editing with it, same problem but in this case removing the WinFileCache.dat file solved the problem. However this is not an acceptable workaround long term. I need to get this working in CS5.

I also tried upgrading to UE 4. I understood that this was more compilable with CS5. Unfortunately I did not read the fine print, apparently this only works with PHP. I work in ASP. Might want to reconsider the name since it no longer appears to be universal. Perhaps PHP Email.

Anyway I'm back to 3.0.7 and $50 poorer. Any other ideas on how to get CS5 working cooperatively with UE.

I'm using Windows 7

Chris

Universal Email is not compatible with Dreamweaver CS5, you will need to use it in Dreamweaver CS4.

we do not update older extensions to be compatible with newer versions of Dreamweaver.

Thanks for the reply.
Does this mean that unless one uses PHP, UE cannot be used with CS5?

Yes, that is correct

to use an older version of Universal Email with another language like ASP, you will need to use an older version of Dreamweaver like CS4 as well.

Thanks again for replying.

Why has WebAssist dropped its support of ASP in UE4? I have built an admin panel that uses UE extensively. Its unfortunate that support for a given language is dropped in a application one relies on.Having to keep an old version of DW on the computer is a poor workaround and cannot work long term.

I suppose I will have to look for an alternative which is unfortunate. I liked the WebAssist product. Any suggestions?

the decision to support only PHP was made about 2 years ago.

we found that supporting ASP VB, ASP JS and Cold Fusion along with PHP meant that we had to sacrifice features that we wanted to implement because they could not be achieved in those languages. It also meant that we had to quadruple our QA efforts when testing a new release.

we felt we could offer a better product by concentrating on one language.
