Embedded YouTube video not working after edit

Embedded YouTube video not working after edit

I am able to go to code view and paste in the YouTube embed code, save and then it displays. However if I then simply open the page that displays the HTML Editor to edit that record, the embed code immediately no longer works.

Looking at the source code of the HTML Editor it's clear why - lots of &quot's have been added to the pasted embed code. i.e.

<iframe allowfullscreen="&quot;&quot;" frameborder="&quot;0&quot;"
height="&quot;319&quot;" src="%22
/gldbSNX63K4?rel=0%22" width="&quot;560&quot;"></iframe>

I've done a search on the Forum and no one else has mentioned this problem. Which leads me to believe that there is a setting or procedure I'm missing.

Any help very much appreciated.

the initial value for the html editor instance probably has some formatting applied to it.

you can fix this by rebinding the initial value.

edit the HTMLEditor instance, click the lightning bolt next to initial value and reslsect the corresponding column from the recordset.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the very speedy response.

Yup, that fixed it. Which begs the did that line of code get messed up in the first place?

I've also noticed another interesting issue, although this doesn't seem to be affecting the display of the video.

The code I paste in is:

<iframe width="560" height="319" src="
gldbSNX63K4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

However it's saved to the database as:

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="319" src=""

Why would HTML Editor change the order of the code?

how did that line of code get messed up in the first place?

if the page was originally created with data assist, data assist adds code to the initial values of form elements on the update page to convert the quote character to the html entity &quote; by default, most database extensions have some sort of formatting that is applied by default that needs to be removed when converting a field to an html editor instance.

ass for the cod3 reordering, HTMLEditor is base on the CKEditor engine.

CKEditor will reformat code based on the document type that is selected to prevent none standards compliant mark up. sometimes this ends up rearranging attributes of html tags.
