Upgrade from PowerCMS 1 to PowerCMS2

I have three sites using PowerCMS2 and the clients are very happy with this CMS.

However I still have three sites still using PowerCMS 1 and whilst those clients also have been very happy, unfortunately in one instance the site is becoming a little fragile.

It has 25+ editable pages and only five show up on the Home Page once you have signed in. You have to use the Advance Search option to find the page (all 25+ are there) in order to edit the contents.

If I use PHPmyAdmin, I can also see that they are all still there, therefore I would like to upgrade to PowerCMS 2.

Having searched this forum, it tells/advises me to use a different folder for PowerCMS 2 and make a backup of files, folders and databases, before upgrading.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a simple database backup tutorial as I am having difficulty using the backup facility in PHPmyAdmin, something to do with the size of the database.

Oh by the way, when I say simple, I mean simple, please.

Regards Mac

Thanks Jason that couldn't be simpler.
I have saved a database backup to my PC, so feel my confident to now upgrade to PowerCMS 2. I have also backed up my site files in dreamweaver, anything else I should do or beaware of?

Hi Support

I compleated the upgrade and the wizard recognised that I was upgrading and asked if I wanted to bring forward the database (wizard already had the radio button "Yes" selected by default) which I accepted and the wizard compleated sucessfully.

When the AdminCMS index page opens there is no previous activity, pages or data shown.

I added a user and checked again but still nothing shows up.

However, thankfully the website still shows the previous CMS data but I am unable to edit it.

I access through phpMyAdmin and I now see 7 tables:
contenthistory has as expected all previous data (484 records)
content also has all previous data (42 records)
pcms2_contenthistory has no records
pcms2_content has no records
pcms2_usergroups has 1 record as expected (administrator)
pcms2_users has 1 record as expected (new user just set up)
wa_settings has 6 records

Do I need to import the data from one table to another?

I am sure I have just missed something simple, could you point me in the right direction to solve this little problem.

Regards Mac
