Conundrum

There are 599 products in my clients site. He has decided that the majority (about 570) need an additional option. That being a personalized shirt for each participant.
To do this I assume I would need to modify all ±570 products one-at-a-time.
If that's not the case, what is?

If that is the case, a possible workaround might be to modify the confirmation email sent when you tick the checkbox "Send Confirmation:" on admin/orders_update.php such that it contained either a coupon code for the shirt or a request and link to the page with the shirt.
But than that same confirmation email would be sent to purchasers of the other products as well.
If ticking the "Send Confirmation" checkbox could bring up the email in the admin before it was actually sent and had the option of including the shirt ordering info or not that would work.

Modifying the individual products would be preferred but I'm at a loss as to how to proceed down any of these paths.

I'm open to suggestions and need to resolve this quickly.

And can the confirmation email be presented to the admin before it's sent?

to edit the conformation email body, edit the WA_UniversalEmail/Email_templates/shipping_confirm.php file.

no, power store does not have an email preview feature to preview the email before it is sent.
