Preventing duplicate usernames?

Sorry - another quick question - also with the registration form here:

registration/

Should it be possible to prevent people from registering with a username that someone else already has?

Thanks.

If you own the latest version of securityassist we added a server validation for this purpose.

If you don't have the latest version you can still use the old server validation to achieve that result you just have to create a recordset that is filtered by the entered email address and then add validation to make sure that recordset doesn't return a row... which is number validation that the variable: $totalRows_RecordsetName has a value of zero.

You should be able to find several examples of us walking people through this process by searching this forum.

I've got the current version Ray - how do I apply that server validation?

Unique field value will be one of the validation types in server validation. It is applied just like any other server validation.

OK, I tried again using Manage Pages > Confirm Field Settings > and checking the 'Unique Column for registration and update pages' checkbox for Username - but that doesn't seem to be it.
