Live v testing server

Hi Jason

Quick couple of Q's re security assist

Does it have to be configured on a testing server or could it be installed and configured on a 'live' server?

If that is possible, is it possible to use powercms in conjunction with security assist?

Thanks

Jamie

The "testing" server could be your live server. DW needs a testing server defined but there is no reason why it can't point to the live server as the testing server.

Yes. Powercms already uses securityassist for a lot of the functionality... we used the previous version of securityassist for most of the security functionality in powercms and it can be easily upgraded to the new version.

Thanks for your reply Ray.

Unfortunately the reseller system from my hosting provider requires FTPES connection which is something Dreamweaver doesn't support.

Currently I have set up clients live site which is using PowerCMS but they are now wanting to explore add secure area hence am looking at security assist.

i suppose what I am trying to get at is is it possible, bearing in mind the above, to create a local based security assist setup and then 'merge' that into the live site which is already using powercms? and can the local files be FTP'd using something like Filezilla or does it havre to be through Dreamweaver?

Thanks...

You can merge it with filezilla and using a database import/export utility.

Thanks Ray

Would you be able to give me an idea of how I would do this please?

Would I need a copy of power CMS on the local side as well?

Thanks

Jamie

You can download the Database Starter Kit from our web site. It will walk you through setting up a local testing server and database.
