confirm page - modify information

i have added a custom shipping calculation to the confirm page, which allows the customer to change shipping method before placing the order.

If they choose to do this, they need to click 'update shipping' on the form, but this has a detrimental effect on the modify information button, which now takes 2 clicks to go back to the checkout page if the shipping is updated, but only one if it isn't.

Is there a good reason why the back link is simply a history.back() rather than a direct link to checkout.php ?

no, you can change it to a direct link if you like.
