Digital File Pro 2.0.1

Hey Ray: why is it that most software extension that WA have are not backward compatible? For example I don't see the advantage of not having Digital File Pro 2.0.1 not compatible with DW8.0.2.

During the install of Digital File Pro 2.0.2 -- it requested for DW 9. This to me is a waste. You guys need to make your product backward compatible except for cases where hardware "limitations" is a problem.

We only make it available on platforms we test on. I suppose we could let it install and just not support it, but then we run into problems where users report errors and we spend a lot of time looking into it only to find they are on an unsupported version.

I understand your point, but I guess we felt like it was irresponsible to allow users to install on a platform we don't test on at all.

Why would you not test on DW 8.0.2? -- Most people are still using this version of dreamweaver. Isn't the strategy for sales supposed to be: To reach widest possible market.

I don't get this at all. It will make a lot of sense to review the policy\strategy of not testing on DW 8.0.2 and ealier.

We support the current version and one version back. We support 2 versions back for the first 6 months of the product lifecycle. So since CS4 has been out for more than 6 months we have started only supporting CS4 and CS3.

Do you have any information on your statistic "Most people are still using V8.0.2". DW v8 came out in 2002. I'm surprised that most people haven't updated in almost 8 years.

I am surprised this would be the case. I would be very interested if you have any actual data to back that up.
